Green and Gold Crew
Yarn weight 4 · 5.0 mm (US 8) circular needles, 16 and 32 in, and double-points
Directions
- A men's crewneck for a cold game day in green and gold: dark green with a gold and white band across the chest and sleeves. Colors only; no team names or logos.
- Finished size: chest 40 (44, 48, 52) in; M (L, XL, 2XL), with about 4 in of ease.
- Yarn: worsted wool, about 1,350 (1,500, 1,700, 1,900) yd: green 750, gold 400, white 200 (more for larger sizes).
- Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rounds = 4 in in stockinette.
- Body: with green and the long needle, cast on 180 (198, 216, 234). Join and work k1 tbl, p1 rib for 2 1/2 in. Knit in green until 13 (13, 14, 14) in from the cast-on.
- Chest band: 4 rounds gold, 2 white, 3 green, 2 white, 4 gold. Change back to green.
- Divide at 16 (16, 17, 17) in: bind off 8 stitches at each side for the underarms; work the back and front flat from here.
- Back: work to 25 (25, 26, 26) in. Bind off the shoulders, leaving the middle 30 (32, 34, 36) stitches on hold for the neck.
- Front: at 22 (22, 23, 23) in, put the middle 18 stitches on hold and work each side separately, binding off 2 stitches at the neck edge 3 times; work to the back's length and bind off.
- Sleeves (make 2): on double-points, cast on 44 (46, 48, 50) in green; rib 3 in. Increase 1 stitch at each side every 6th round until there are 80 (86, 92, 98). At 11 in, work the same gold, white and green band. Continue in green to 20 (20, 21, 21) in and bind off.
- Make up: join the shoulders. Neck: with green and the 16 in needle, pick up about 96 stitches and work k1 tbl, p1 rib for 1 in. Set in the sleeves, matching the bands to the chest band. Weave in ends and block.
