Yarn weight 3 · 4.0 mm (US 6) circular needle

Directions

1. Cast on a multiple of 8 stitches in the round (for example 96 for an adult hat).
2. Work 2 inches of k2, p2 ribbing in the background color.
3. Follow the chart, reading every row from right to left: knit each stitch in the color shown, carrying the unused color loosely behind (floats no longer than 5 stitches).
4. After the band, continue in the background color and decrease for the crown: *k6, k2tog* around, then every other round with one fewer knit stitch, until 8 stitches remain. Draw the yarn through and fasten.
